“Personal Branding is just self-promotion.”

52% of students in my recent poll agreed with that statement, while only 36% associated it with career growth.

Honestly, I understand why.

For many students, Personal Branding feels connected to influencers, self-promotion, or constantly posting online. But after seven career pivots, including my transition from B2B Digital Marketing into Big Tech — I’ve learned that strong skills and experience alone do not automatically create visibility or opportunities.

Especially for students entering a competitive job market, visibility matters more than ever.

That’s exactly what I discussed during my recent keynote at FH Kufstein Tirol University of Applied Sciences.
